True to his word, San Francisco resident Lloyd Schofield did in fact drop off 12,265 signatures Tuesday to place on the Nov. 8 ballot a measure that would make it a misdemeanor to circumcise males under the age of 18 in San Francisco.

In a low-key affair (no press alert was issued) he dropped off the signatures shortly after 11 a.m. at the Department of Elections, which now has 30 days to verify if he in fact does have 7,168 valid signatures required for placement on the ballot.

Schofield said he and other backers have been using the voter database to verify the signatures on their own and are confident the measure will be before voters.

It would go on the same ballot in which San Francisco voters will decide who will serve as the next mayor and also decide the fate of at least one measure to rein in The City’s skyrocketing pension costs.
