School officials are deciding the disciplinary fate today of the 17-year-old student who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and survived last week.
Members of the Windsor Unified School District board will meet with administrators to discuss what discipline the boy should face, if any.
The teen was on a field trip in San Francisco on Thursday with roughly 45 Windsor High School classmates when he plunged more than 200 feet off the bridge’s eastern sidewalk near the south tower around 11 a.m.
Authorities say the boy was not trying to commit suicide, but told a surfer who helped him to shore that he “did it for kicks.” He has undergone a psychiatric evaluation.
District officials did not return calls asking whether the two teachers who were chaperoning the trip will face disciplinary action.
On Friday, the California Highway Patrol recommended the boy be charged with trespassing, which could result in a $10,000 fine and up to a year in jail.
