The phone’s been ringing in the Mayor’s Office on Tuesday, and it’s probably not going to stop any time soon now that off-leash dog walking advocates have organized a call-in day to Mayor Ed Lee.
Lee stepped into the fight after Supervisor Scott Wiener introduced a resolution fighting the Golden Gate National Recreation Area’s attempt to restrict off-leash dogs at Ocean Beach and other federal lands.
Last week, Lee requested the board postpone its Tuesday vote on the resolution for two weeks so he could discuss the matter with GGNRA. The vote is expected to come up again next Tuesday.
Of course, there is more than one side to the story, so anyone who does support stricter leash laws should also give the mayor’s office a ring at (415) 554-6141.
