JOK CHURCH

Achievement: The multitasker created “You Can with Beakman & Jax,” an educational comic strip appearing in 300 newspapers. He also created CBS’ “Beakman’s World,” shown weekends on Channel 36 and is a public speaker and author of six children’s books.

KIRSTEN MAHONEY

“My instincts drew me to the meditation center in China, and as a result

my coaching has been profoundly affected by the experience.”

Occupation: Life coach

Home: San Francisco

Achievement: The former director of operations launched her own life balance-coaching practice, Insight Out Life Coaching, after going through intensive coaching training and living five months in rural China at a qigong meditation center.

RALPH PENSE

“This will be a nice vacation for the grandkids.”

Occupation: Retired

Home: Redwood City

Achievement: The lucky retiree, who has been married for 35 years, recently won $70,000 after playing the California Lottery’s Fantasy 5 Dream Machine. He says he got caught up in the moment and thought he would just play one more ball.

JASON MECIER

“I feel so fortunate that I am able to make my living as an artist/celebrity stalker!”

Occupation: Artist, illustrator

Home: San Francisco

Achievement: The artist, who was nominated for a Food Network Award, creates three-dimensional celebrity portraits made out of the subjects’ actual personal items. His clients include Rosie O’Donnell, Phyllis Diller, Florence Henderson, Parker Posey, Pink, Elvira and Margaret Cho.
