OAKLAND — Asked about the DeMarcus Cousins trade to the New Orleans Pelicans, Kevin Durant offered lofty praise for the swap that pairs two of the game’s premier bigs.

“I think it could be legendary,” Durant said of the pairing of Boogie and Anthony Davis

The Sacramento Kings sent Cousins to New Orleans directly after the All-Star game, capping a busy weekend of rumors circulating around the Western Conference All-Star center.

“That’s how this business works, man,” Durant said following shoot around on Thursday. “You could be traded in your sleep. Everything can happen so quickly. And it happened for Cuz and I know A.D. is excited and Jrue Holiday and the rest of the organization and that city is getting a great player. I think they’re going to do well together.”

Durant said he’s already considered the possibility of seeing the Pelicans in an 8-1 matchup in the opening round of the postseason, but also singled out the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves as potentially tricky opponents.

“Those teams, young teams, man, all are going to present a tough challenge for us,” Durant said.

“It’s good to see Cuz in an environment where they actually want him,” Durant added. “It’s good to see A.D. Get someone else down there to kind of get in the trenches with him. So, it will be fun. It’s a fun brand of basketball, and I’m sure, if we do play those guys, who knows, it will be a great series.”
