He’s been inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, and been given a prestigious BMI Icon Award. Are there any trophies left to win for legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival bandleader John Fogerty?
Just one, apparently.
Last year, thanks to the ubiquitous ballpark popularity of his 1985 “Put me in, coach” chestnut “Centerfield,” he was actually inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame, believe it or not. Not much left for this El Cerrito native to accomplish, right?
He’s temporarily putting his solo career on hold to revisit past glories at the Beacon Theatre in New York this November. Fogerty is mounting a two-night stand, Nov. 17 and 18, wherein he’ll be performing classic CCR albums, note for note, starting with the quadruple platinum “Cosmo’s Factory” the first evening, “Green River” the second.
Each album rendition will then be followed by a greatest-hits set from both CCR days and his illustrious solo career, and both shows will feature Delta Spirit as opener.
For diehard Fogerty-philes, tickets go on sale this Saturday at 8 a.m. EST, via www.johnfogerty.com, with all remaining seats up for grabs on Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. EST.
