Japantown hotel guest robbed by bargoer

A Japantown hotel guest was robbed early Tuesday by a younger man he picked up at a bar.

The 32-year-old man’s wallet was stolen near Post and Buchanan streets around 2:50 a.m. after he drove the 21-year-old man back to his hotel. While still on the sidewalk, the younger man reached into the hotel guest’s pocket and pulled out his wallet, police said.

The victim then attempted to take his wallet back, but the other man grabbed his arm and twisted it, police said.

The thief ran away with the wallet, containing a Brazilian driver’s license, identification card and cash.

No arrest has been made.
