Inbound N-Judah trains hit 30-minute hiccup

Trending Articles

Unlucky passengers on two inbound Muni trains were stuck either at the Vanness station or in the tunnel for about a half hour this morning, and it subsequently delayed other inbound traffic underground.

Just after 9:50 a.m. Muni operators received a report of an ill passenger on an inbound N-Judah train at Vanness and had to stop it to search for the person but did not find anyone, said Muni spokeswoman Kristen Holland.

“It was either no-merit or the person left,’’ Holland said.

After searching for about 20 minutes, the train was free to move again — but the inbound N-Judah train behind it was not.

“It was about to leave but it had a mechanical issue with the doors,’’ Holland said. “So to the person on the second train, it would have felt like a continuous delay.’’

A man on the second train had apparently pulled the emergency lever, but Holland could not confirm that was what caused the hold-up.

She said trains were operating fluidly again by about 10:20 a.m.
