Hue Jackson praises Jared Goff, every other QB he’s asked about

This NFL offseason, it’s hard to differentiate between the Cleveland Browns and the 49ers: Both have new coaches after having respectively dreadful 2015 seasons, are in the market for quarterbacks and have a top-10 pick in the upcoming draft.

Hue Jackson, the former Raiders coach who has reportedly had interest in trading for Colin Kaepernick, gave his opinion on a number of playcallers who will be available to him whether in free agency or through the draft.

He said of Cal’s Jared Goff: “Big guy, quick release, tremendous poise in pocket, can keep eyes downfield with guys bearing down.”

His comments weren’t illuminating, though, as he also praised Carson Wentz and Robert Griffin III.

The Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team thought it hit rock bottom when it was left out of the NCAA tournament on Selection Sunday.

On Tuesday, things got even worse as the Gaels were held to just 44 points in their NIT quarterfinal matchup against Valparaiso. Saint Mary’s led at half, but Valpo held the Gaels to 13 points in the second half.

The last vision this SMC team will be left with is of Valpo’s fans rushing the court, a fitting end to a frustrating postseason. Meanwhile, the Gaels’ archrival, Gonzaga, plays Friday in a Sweet-16 matchup.

The Niners spent some of their money on Tuesday when they inked guard Zane Beadles to a three-year deal to replace Alex Boone, who jetted for the Vikings.

The Warriors have fascinated NBA fans for more than a year-and-a-half and people are starting to take notice locally.

The New York Times reported seven of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s top-10 most-viewed Dubs games have come in the last month and the overall household ratings increased 137 percent over the 2014-15 season.
