This suspect wasn’t very bright after all.
Southern Police Station officers who had been patrolling the Sixth Street corridor during the early morning hours of
Feb. 12 said they came upon a vehicle traveling southbound with its high beams on.
The officers made a U-turn and began to follow the vehicle, police said. After running a computer check on the license plate, police said they learned the vehicle had been stolen.
“Officers safely performed a traffic stop and were able to get the suspect into custody without further incident,” police said.
The vehicle was reportedly towed to Auto Return because the owner wasn’t available to pick it up.
The suspect was booked into County Jail on charges that include driving and possessing a stolen vehicle. He was additionally charged with driving with an expired license — and officers did not forget to cite him for illegal use of the vehicle’s high beams.
