Heart attack rumor debunked as Tony Bennett battles flu

Tony Bennett may have left his heart in San Francisco, but contrary to reports, the crooner’s ticker is otherwise fine.

The 88-year-old singer canceled a London show Tuesday after succumbing to a flu virus, according to The Associated Press. Bennett was due to perform at Royal Albert Hall with his musical BFF, Lady Gaga, to promote their jazzy album “Cheek to Cheek.”

“I love my fans in the UK and appreciate all the well wishes to get over this flu quickly,” Bennett tweeted Tuesday.

A rumor quickly spread from “Cheek to Cheek” and tweet to tweet, however, as a Gaga fan claimed, “It’s just been confirmed by staff here that Tony suffered a heart attack,” which was picked up by less-then-scrupulous gossip websites.

Before fans could riot in the streets, Gaga, ever the voice of reason, tweeted, “Hey everybody! Don’t worry about Tony, he’s ok! That’s just showbiz sometimes. We’ll catch u next time, we got you!”

JENNER SUED OVER CRASH
A woman who was injured in a February traffic collision is suing Caitlyn Jenner.

Jessica Steindorff filed the lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles, seeking unspecified damages. Her lawsuit uses both names for the 65-year-old Jenner, who publicly transitioned from Bruce to Caitlyn after the fatal accident.

Steindorff’s complaint does not detail her injuries or provide any new details about the Feb. 7 crash. The collision killed a woman, Kim Howe, after the SUV that Jenner was driving pushed her car into oncoming traffic.

Howe’s stepchildren have also sued Jenner, who is seeking a dismissal of their case.

Jenner’s publicist declined comment on Steindorff’s lawsuit. The suit was first reported Monday by celebrity website TMZ.
