The San Francisco Giants completed their first trade of the offseason Friday, sending starting pitcher Matt Moore and international signing bonus pool money to the Texas Rangers.

The Giants received a pair of prospects in return: right-handed pitchers Sam Wolff and Israel Cruz.

Moore struggled in 2017, his only full season in San Francisco. He allowed a career-most earned runs and had the highest ERA in MLB among qualified pitchers.

The move frees up about $9 million after the Giants exercised a team option on Moore’s contract for the 2018 season shortly after the season ended.
