San Francisco Police Officers Association President Gary Delagnes retained his position in a runoff election completed Sunday.
In a brief interview, Delagnes said he bested challenger Steve Landi with slightly more than 60 percent of the vote.
The longtime president humbly vowed to reach out to those members of his union who voted for his opponent in this year’s election for a new three-year term.
“It’s a difficult time for everybody, not just in the police department but all over the country,” he said. “I’ve got to get out there and find out why some of my members are unhappy with me and see what I can do to make it better.”
