Former Ukranian PM gets sentence reduced

Former Ukrainian prime minister Pavlo Lazarenko, who has been living in the Bay Area under house arrest, received a reduced prison sentence Wednesday stemming from a U.S. conviction of corruption in his homeland. A San Francisco judge cut Lazarenko’s nine-year sentence by 11 months. The resentencing came after an appeals court last year tossed out six of the 14 charges that he was convicted of in 2004.
