Former CCSF d-back selected by Raiders

The Oakland Raiders selected safety Shalom Luani with the 221st pick (seventh round).

Luani played for City College of San Francisco in 2013 and 2014.

“That guy is a playmaker,” GM Reggie McKenzie said of Luani. “You can look at one quarter of football and you know he loves the game.”

CCSF head coach Jimmy Collins celebrated the pick on Twitter:

“He is a — as they say down south — a football-playing Jessie, whatever that means,” McKenzie said. “It’s a country saying, but that’s what he is. He’s tough. He’s physical. He has ball skills. He can kind of do it all.”
