Fireworks spark grass fire near Highway 280

San Francisco fire officials report that fireworks sparked a two-alarm fire at a residence near Bache Street and Benton Avenue, between Alemany Boulevard and Highway 280, on Saturday morning.

One adult suffered a non-life-threatening laceration as a result of the fire, which has been abated, according to San Francisco Fire Department spokesperson Jonathan Baxter.

A shelter-in-place was ordered for the 100 block of Bache Street following a call about the fire at 11:45 a.m., which has also been lifted.

According to Baxter, the fire spanned two acres and damaged the exterior of a property at 131 Bache St. An adjacent fence line also sustained damage.

Baxter said  that Ingleside Police Captain Jack Hart “will have officers providing extra patrol with an emphasis on fireworks throughout the weekend in that area.”

Community members who witness the active use of fireworks are encouraged to call 911, and to call 311 or 415-553-0123 if fireworks are heard but not visible.
