Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a blaze that broke out Tuesday night near Stanford University.
At about 10 p.m., Palo Alto Fire Department officials said on social media that crews were on the scene of a 2- to 3-acre fire near the Stanford Dish, a large radio telescope just south of the Stanford University campus.
The Stanford Dish is a large radio telescope in the Stanford foothills surrounded by a large open space used for academic programs, environmental restoration, habitat conservation and recreation.
By 10:36 p.m., fire officials stopped forward progress of the fire. Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours to conduct the “mop-up” phase, according to fire officials.
There were no reports of damage to any surrounding buildings or structures, fire officials said.
Palo Alto firefighters were assisted by crews from the Mountain View Fire Department, the Santa Clara County Fire Department and Cal Fire.
