Dark Money: The documentary by Kimberley Reed follows shadows Montana reporter John Adams as he describes how untraceable corporate money influences the outcome of elections. Not rated. At the Opera Plaza. Adams is slated appear after the 4:50 p.m. screening July 28; and Reed will answer questions after the 7:30 p.m. screening July 28 and 2:10 p.m. screening July 29.

Generation Wealth: The exposé by filmmaker Lauren Greenfield (of “The Queen of Versailles”) examines today’s materialistic, image-obsessed culture and the human costs of capitalism, narcissism and greed. Rated R. At the Clay.

: The documentary by Ian Bonhote and Peter Ettedgui explores the tragic life and extraordinary career of the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Not rated. At the Embarcadero.

Mission: Impossible-Fallout: Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt as he and his team race against time (again) and the forces of evil, in a film directed and cowritten by Christopher McQuarrie. Rated PG-13.

Ryuichi Sakamoto-Coda: The film focuses on the musician — whose career spanned from techno-pop stardom to Oscar-winning film composer — and his role in Japan’s social movement against nuclear power. Not rated. Not rated. At the Four Star.

Teen Titans Go to the Movies: Led by the headstrong boy wonder, Robin, the young superheroes head to Hollywood in search of big-screen stardom in the animated movie with voices of Will Arnett, Kristen Bell, Greg Cipes, Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Tara Strong, Hynden Walch, Nicolas Cage, Halsey and Lil’ Yachty. Rated PG.
