: A shy and talented German baker travels to Israel to find out what happened to his deceased lover and ends up working in a café run by his lover’s widow in the film by Ofir Raul Graizer. Not rated. At the Clay.

Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot: Joaquin Phoenix plays John Callahan, a disabled recovering alcoholic who wills his injured hands into drawing edgy cartoons in the film by Gus Van Sant. Rated R. At the Embarcadero.

Eighth Grade
: The directorial debut by YouTube comedy sensation Bo Burnham captures the awkwardness of adolescence, telling the story of a 13-year=old suburban girl making her way through the last months of middle school. Rated R. At the Embarcadero.

The Equalizer 2
: Denzel Washington is back as the former CIA black ops agent delivering vigilante justice for those in need in a film costarring Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo. Rated R.

Gauguin: Voyage to Tahiti
: Vincent Cassel plays French artist Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) in the biopic inspired by Gauguin’s own memoir “Noa Noa” (a Tahitian word meaning fragrance). Not rated. At the Opera Plaza.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again: The cast returns to revisit their younger selves in this sequel to the Abba-fueled musical comedy with Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried, Christine Baranski and Lily James. Rated PG-13.

Unfriended: Dark Web
: A young man and his friends are exposed to the scariest parts of the internet via files on a found laptop in a movie starring Colin Woodell, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Betty Gabriel, Chelsea Alden by writer-director Stephen Susco. Rated R.
