Aida’s Secrets: The documentary details how the discovery of records from World War II spark a family’s quest for answers as two brothers separated as babies reunite with each other and their elderly mother, who hid more from them than just each other. Not rated. At the Opera Plaza.

Along for the Ride: The film explores “the phoenix-like ascension of iconic Hollywood maverick Dennis Hopper,” as seen through the eyes of his mysterious longtime right-hand man Satya de la Manitou, who is slated to appear, along with director Nick Ebeling, after the 7 p.m. Dec. 15 screening. Call Me By Your Name: Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer star as two young men falling in love in the northern Italian countryside in a beautiful collaboration between director Luca Guadagnino and screenwriter James Ivory. Rated R. At the Embarcadero.

Ferdinand: The animated tale about a large, gentle bull determined to return to his family after being captured features the voices of John Cena, Kate McKinnon and Gina Rodriguez. Rated PG.

Rebels on Pointe: The documentary celebrates the famed Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, the notorious all-male, drag ballet company founded over 40 years ago in New York City. Not rated. At the Opera Plaza.

Star Wars-The Last Jedi: In the eighth episode of the saga based on characters by George Lucas, Rey continues her search for the truth behind the Force; Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher star in the movie written and directed by Rian Johnson. Rated PG-13.
