Sean "Diddy" Combs has been hit with a lawsuit for more than $25,000 by a man who claims the rapper punchedhim at an Oscar party.
As Scoop! previously reported, the hip-hop mogul was alleged to have been chatting up the fiancée of Gerard Rechnitzer outside Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel when Gerard approached.
Per court documents, Diddy glared at Gerard "in a threatening and ominous manner" and uttered such charming bon mots as "What the [expletive] you looking at, dude?" and "I’ll smack flames out your ass!" He then allegedly struck Gerard, causing him to "fly backwards several feet" into a parked car, and pushed his fiancée before staring Gerard down and driving off with his entourage.
Diddy’s rep flatly denies the charges, telling People in a statement that "Mr. Combs did not hit anyone and Mr. Rechnitzer suffered no injuries or damages whatsoever. This case is completely baseless. It is just another example of an opportunist seeking to fabricate a lawsuit based on a flat-out lie."
Hartnett: Hero or Heel?
In other celebrity bar-fight news, heartthrob actor Josh Hartnett was reportedly involved in a recent late-night incident at a NYC nightspot.
Josh’s rep told the New York Post the "Pearl Harbor" star was responsible for helping break up a brawl at downtown bar Whiskey Ward. But onlookers tell conflicting stories.
One source recalled to the paper, "Hartnett was with a group of very aggressive guys and two girls. One of the girls in his group claimed a guy in the bar pushed her, and Josh’s friends started getting really heated." Allegedly, Josh did help defuse an argument.
But another claims that later the actor was a passive witness when "a group of guys" jumped a hapless bargoer outside after last call: "They threw him to ground and kicked him. And Josh was just standing by and watching."
Yet Josh’s friends defended him to the paper, insisting that he tried to intervene by saying, "Everyone just relax and grow up."
Funny how a night at a bar can make for some fuzzy details! Who knows if even the witnesses recall what really happened?
Simon: Not Your Stepping Stone
Acid-tongued "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell has lashed out at Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson for not showing more appreciation for her big break.
Ex-finalist Jennifer has called "Idol" a career "stepping stone." And while accepting her best supporting actress Oscar for "Dreamgirls," she showed no love to the blockbuster reality show.
Unsurprisingly, Simon’s ire was aroused by the ungrateful up-and-comer. In a panel discussion at the Museum of Television & Radio, he sneered, "Stepping stone? [‘Idol’] was her big opportunity to become noticed, and she got noticed and she got ‘Dreamgirls.’"
Simon went on to rail against past contestants who "deliberately turn against the show that made them successful. The reason [people] come on the show is because all the doors had been slammed in their face."
Sorry, Simon — we’re guessing Jennifer doesn’t really care what you think at this point.
Joss Stone may be gorgeous and talented, but she says her luck with men has been lousy lately.
"I’m really pissed off with men right now," the British soul singer laments to the U.K.’s Harper’s Bazaar. "I don’t think they can love me right. I’m going through a phase where I’m so depressed about blokes. It’s horrible being a young girl looking for love in all the wrong places. It’s a waste of time."
But at least Joss, 19, has one passion in her life. While recording her latest album, she says, "I had a realization … that I’m in love with music, and that it loves me back. No matter what mood I’m in, it’ll make me feel better. For any guy, they’re up against some tough opposition."
