In what can only be described as a sad day for Mesocricetus auratus, the hamster named PAC that Justin Bieber gave to a fan has gone to that big wheel in the sky.

The Biebs had handed over the rodent to a giddy 18-year-old girl, cage and all, three months ago, which also is unfortunately the average lifespan of a hamster. Despite her TLC and the valiant efforts of a team of veterinarians, the animal succumbed to… er, whatever.

She buried the lil guy in her backyard, telling TMZ that “it’s very peaceful there.”
