Elizabeth Taylor put on a brave face up until the end of her life. But privately, the Hollywood legend, who fought tirelessly for those suffering from AIDS, was struggling with her own health woes.

Debbie Reynolds — a friend of La Liz despite their notorious long-ago love triangle with Eddie Fisher — recalled her last conversation with the actress, two weeks before her death.

“I said, ‘Getting old is really [expletive],’” the screen star said on “Access Hollywood.” “And she said, ‘It certainly is. It certainly is, Debbie. This is really tough.’

“I said, ‘Well, you just hang in there now, Elizabeth. And she said, ‘I’m really trying.’”

Liz’s former romantic rival added, “God bless her, she’s on to a better place. I’m happy that she’s out of her pain because she was in a lot of pain.”

We’re glad Elizabeth is not suffering anymore. But the world has surely lost a great talent and a great humanitarian.

Brand Loyalty

Is there trouble in paradise between Russell Brand and Katy Perry? The actor confessed on Piers Morgan’s British TV show that he has traded in his ladies’ man status for picking up after his wife.

“It’s difficult getting used to one person and being in the same house every day,” said the “Arthur” star, according to the U.K.’s Mail. “See, if she leaves stuff lying around I have to deal with it.”

However, he dispelled rumors of a rift.

“It’s not true [that] we see a marriage counselor,” Russell said. “I don’t know where that story came from. We don’t pay any attention.”

The caustic comedian confessed his past as a sex addict who enjoyed romps five times a day (!), but declared, “I’ve never been in love before Katy, and now I rate love as being willing to change for someone.”

Aw — is there anything more romantic than a sex addict who is willing to change for the right woman?
