A rumor is going around that Lindsay Lohan’s enablers — er, handlers — paid off the fired Betty Ford Center staffer who accused her of assault. An insider told Radar Online the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office suspects as much.
Authorities have been investigating the December incident in which Dawn Holland filed a police complaint as a possible probation violation. But in recent weeks, Dawn, who was let go from her job after blabbing to TMZ about the skirmish, has refused to cooperate and publicly supported the troubled starlet, saying LiLo should be left alone.
“Riverside [County] District Attorney David Greenberg, who is handling the case, suspects that Dawn Holland was paid off by Lindsay Lohan’s camp,” the source said. “Greenberg believes that Dawn’s change of heart was financially motivated. Greenberg believes Lindsay’s camp paid Dawn off, plain and simple.”
Lindsay’s father, Michael Lohan — who is apparently constitutionally incapable of keeping his mouth shut when reporters are around — even admitted to the site that “Dawn has had her attorney meet with me, negotiate with me and even propose a ‘deal’ with me.”
That deal, said to have been for $25,000, did not fly — but Dawn told Radar a paid joint photo shoot with La Linds is being discussed.
However, that does not mean Lindsay was masterminding the situation.
“She was completely unaware of what her father was doing on her behalf,” the source said. “Lindsay has never in writing or verbally agreed to any sort of financial settlement with Dawn Holland. Lindsay has moved on from the situation and is focusing on her sobriety. It’s beginning to look like the actions of others could potentially harm Lindsay legally.”
So LiLo is surrounded by people who claim to care about her, but are actually making things worse? What else is new?
For years, George Clooney has been declaring he will never wed again, following a failed four-year union that ended in 1993. So we were not too shocked when he told newly minted CNN host Piers Morgan that he “gave [marriage] a shot” and will not try it again.
However, at least one person evidently was — his girlfriend.
Italian TV personality Elisabetta Canalis, the “Ocean’s Eleven” star’s lady love since 2009, “had no idea he was going to say that,” a pal told Popeater. “She thought she was going to be the girl who would finally get George to settle down and put a ring on it. She was totally surprised.”
But that does not mean she is taking no for an answer.
“If he doesn’t ask her to marry him soon she will ask him,” the insider said. “And if he says no, well, there are plenty more fish in the ocean.”
And plenty of women, no doubt, who would be thrilled to take her place on George’s arm — ring or no ring.
After deciding to stop mixing business and pleasure, Britney Spears and her beau have resumed their professional
relationship. Jason Trawick ceased being the pop star’s agent last May, but she has now signed a new contract with his employer, William Morris Endeavors, her rep told Us magazine.
“Jason will be part of the team handling her career,” a source said. “He won’t be the only agent working with her — he will be handling acting endeavors — but there will be a big music department also on her account.” So why the about-face?
“Jason is someone the family trusts. They know he will make the best decisions for her and she feels comfortable with him,” the source said. “[William Morris Endeavors] is absolutely the best choice for Britney. They are the best at what they do and her team recognizes that.”
With her new single, “Hold It Against Me,” blowing up and an eagerly anticipated album in the works, Britney certainly deserves to command a team of top talent. We just hope the work relationship does not get in the way of the romance!
