League to Save Lake Tahoe luncheon: The Oscar de la Renta 2011 resort collection was in the spotlight Saturday at the Fritz Estate in Lake Tahoe in a Saks Fifth Avenue-sponsored benefit. Some 600 guests attended the lunch and fashion show, which originated in the 1960s when Bill Blass began previewing his collection to a few clients and friends in Lake Tahoe. This year’s 41st event was chaired by Mara Fritz, Barbara Brown and Edith Tobin. The sit-down meal was underwritten by Diana Dollar Knowles.
Helpers House celebrates two years
Helpers House of Couture party: On Aug. 1, philanthropist Joy Venturini Bianchi hosted a gathering to celebrate the second anniversary of her San Francisco boutique, which sells vintage and new couture by designers such as Geoffrey Beene, Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta, James Galanos, Halston, Naeem Kahn, Norman Norell, Ralph Rucci and Pauline Trigere. Proceeds from the shop benefit the developmentally disabled.
Cycling for AIDS research
Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR reception: On Friday, supporters of the Foundation for AIDS Research celebrated their inaugural benefit event, a six-day motorcycle ride up the California coast, with a reception at the San Francisco Kiehl’s store. The ride — featuring celebrity patrons such as William Macy, Fred Durst, Tim Kang, Katee Sackhoff and Peter Coyote — raised $85,000.
