Three decades of performances


SF Performances Gala: On Friday at the Mark Hopkins Hotel, San Francisco Performances — which presents chamber music, vocal and instrumental recitals, jazz and contemporary dance — celebrated its 31st season with a soiree that raised some $140,000 for educational programs. Cocktails and dinner were rounded out with a concert featuring composer-pianist Jake Heggie and soprano Talise Trevigne. Fred Levin and Nancy Livingston chaired the event.

LINES Ballet opens with big bash


LINES Ballet Gala Celebration: After its opening-night performance of “Scheherazade” — featuring music by tabla master Zakir Hussain — Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet celebrated its 28th anniversary. The gala at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts was hosted by Denise Bradley Tyson. The honorary chair was Lisa Stone Pritzker, and honorary co-chairs were Amy and Harry Schoening and Stephen Brady.
