Light in the Grove: On Wednesday, the National AIDS Memorial Grove held a fundraiser — the first of its kind — marking its 20th anniversary. Held at the grove in Golden Gate Park, the “evening of remembrance and renewal” honored Pat Christen, former executive director of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and current president and CEO of HopeLab.

Luminaries pay tribute to Flicka

Celebrating Frederica von Stade: The San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Performances, Cal Performances, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music hosted a concert and celebration Saturday at Herbst Theatre with the spotlight on Bay Area mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, aka “Flicka.” International opera stars were in attendance at the event, a benefit for UC Berkeley’s Young Musicians Program and the St. Martin de Porres Catholic School in Oakland. 

A festive look at ‘100 Unforgettable Dresses’ 

Hal Rubenstein reception: InStyle fashion director Hal Rubenstein’s new book, “100 Unforgettable Dresses,” was the subject of a conversation with Vanessa Getty and a private cocktail party Wednesday at the Armani store on Post Street in The City. The event also included a preview of the Giorgio Armani spring-summer 2012 collection.
