Menlo Charity Horse Show: The 41st annual event, held Aug. 9-14 at Menlo Circus Club in Atherton, featured some 400 of the finest horses and riders in the U.S. in jumping competitions, as well as a benefit gala dinner “Celebrating the Horse” on Aug. 12. Festivities were a benefit for Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, a group serving clients in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties.

The gala for the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund is scheduled for Oct. 21 at the St. Regis hotel in San Francisco.
