Tipping Point community benefit: The Bay Area charity organization founded by Daniel Lurie announced that some $6 million raised at its fifth annual benefit held Friday at Pier 48 will go to local nonprofits providing education and other services to low-income individuals and families. Comedian Brad Wollack hosted, and Beck performed for nearly 1,700 guests at the event, which was co-chaired by Lisa and John Pritzker, Katie Schwab Paige and Matt Paige, Owen Van Natta and Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins. 

Culinary stars come out for Meals On Wheels

Star Chefs & Vintners Gala: Boulevard’s Nancy Oakes, for the eighth time, hosted culinary superstars at the 24th annual benefit for Meals On Wheels May 15 at Fort Mason. The evening included auctions, a lavish hors d’oeuvres reception and a three-course meal, with each course prepared by one of 27 celebrity chefs. Meals On Wheels provides isolated homebound seniors in San Francisco with nutritious food.

Celebrity designer clothing sale benefits local Humane Society

Purr Fashion Fundraiser: In her second event of the kind, Vanessa Getty pulled together designer clothing from celebrities including Ellen DeGeneres, Portia di Rossi, Nicole Kidman, Amber Valletta, Michelle Monaghan, Maria Bello and Connie Nielsen for a special sale to benefit San Francisco Bay Humane Friends, an auxiliary of the Peninsula Humane Society. Held Thursday at the home of Ann and Gordon Getty, the sale netted some $250,000.
