Scoop: Jon, Hailey take a break

Wicked: Jon Gosselin said he is taking a break from his relationship to focus on himself (go figure). (Getty Images file photo)

For someone who supposedly doesn’t like having his personal life made public, Jon Gosselin sure does a lot of talking about it. And talking and talking.

On Sunday, the reality TV star released a statement saying he and girlfriend Hailey Glassman are spending some time apart, before taking the stage in NYC with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach to elaborate on his recent romance woes.

“Hailey says she thinks it’s a good idea that we both take some time right now and focus on each of our individual lives,” Jon said in a statement. “It is important for me to go back to Pennsylvania and be with my children and get through this divorce and decide what I truly want out of life. I do love her and care deeply. She has made me realize I can love myself and just need to be more honest.” (Implying, we presume, that he hasn’t been?)

During his public (there’s that word again) forum with the rabbi, the dad of eight went on to clarify that the separation is because he doesn’t want to make “the same mistakes with Hailey that I did with [estranged wife] Kate.”

“There has never been like, ‘Kids, this is your new stepmother,’” he said. “But we’ve decided to slow things down and so for right now we’re taking a break.”

Now if only we could take a break from Jon.

LOHAN FAMILY DRAMA

In public, Lindsay Lohan’s mother, Dina, says she wants to get a restraining order against ex-husband Michael to get him out of the starlet’s life. But behind the scenes, are they trying to buy him off?

The starlet and her mother are reportedly worried that her dad will make good on threats to air voicemails in which Dina allegedly acknowledges LiLo has a drug problem.

So they’re trying to negotiate a financial settlement that “finally will shut Michael up and keep him out of the press and out of their lives forever,” a source close to Lindsay reportedly told the Chicago Sun-Times.

“But I’m not that optimistic,” the insider said. “Michael is such a loose cannon and I don’t think they could ever raise enough money to keep him quiet, especially since he’s become so bitter and is so obsessed with Lindsay.”

We’d like to think at least one of Lindsay’s parents has her best interests at heart, but we’re really not sure.

HOLLYWOOD’S HALLOWEEN

While you were spotting the 100th Lady Gaga or Michael Jackson on Saturday night, what Halloween costumes were actual celebs wearing?

Here’s a roundup of some of the night’s eye-catching getups.

In the “excuse to dress revealingly” category, Mariah Carey was a bikini-sporting firefighter (we don’t get it either) at her party, while guest Rihanna was (scantily) clad as a tiger.

At other fetes, Blake Lively donned a skin-tight, supershort stewardess uniform; AnnaLynne McCord was a dominatrix superhero; and Kim Kardashian was a sexy Princess Jasmine from “Aladdin.”

On the other hand, Gwen Stefani, trick-or-treating with her boys, kept covered up in a cowgirl outfit, while the typically bare-flesh-friendly Christina Aguilera was unusually unsexy in a skeleton suit.

Every year, certain stars can be relied on to hit the Halloween scene. Heidi Klum didn’t let the birth of daughter Lou three weeks ago keep her from hosting her annual Halloween party. She and hubby Seal dressed as crows.

Party maven Paris Hilton hosted her own bash the night before and dressed as Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz,” with beau Doug Reinhardt in an identical costume. (Some kind of revenge for their temporary breakup, perhaps?)

Some celebs channeled TV characters: James Gandolfini dressed up as Homer Simpson to trick-or-treat with his son; Kelly Clarkson also got animated, donning the guise of Stewie from “Family Guy” onstage in concert.

Brad Pitt, toting his brood with Angelina Jolie (as a zombie), was the orange-wigged host of kiddie show “Yo Gabba Gabba.” Jessica Alba was Dora the Explorer.

Heidi and Spencer Pratt of “The Hills” morphed into fellow reality TV stars Jon and Kate Gosselin. Somehow, we can’t decide whether that’s ironically fitting or a sign the apocalypse is at hand.

Probably the best thing in the world for this Hailey gal is to be done with that waste of space, John Gosselin. The guy is as inconsistant as a 4 year old.

His good friend, Michael Lohan, is another disgusting piece of work. Oh so concerned about his daughter, but he's happy to trash her in the press in order to squeeze money out of her.

I think he and John should become a couple. They're perfect for each other.

It's a horrible idea to get involved with a man who is going through a divorce. This was doomed from the beginning.

Jon is just trying to act like a celebrity, but he is just an ordinary guy who is out of control. He and his wife are just two overgrown kids who need to grow up. They just hit it big and don't know how to act like decent human beings. Jon loves attention. His wife just wants to become a celebrity too, but fails miserably. I feel sorry for all those kids. This couple needs parenting classes.

This couple need to grow up. They are acting like typical spoiled brats who love attention. They also need parenting classes. I feel sorry for the children. Jon loves attention, he's just trying to act like a celebrity but fails miserably.

If it is true that Kate screams and hollers a lot, no wonder Jon is looking elsewhere. Who wants a nagging, screaming wife? Kate, grow up and learn how to act like a human being.

I think everyone should just give Jon a break. He was publically belittled and humiliated by Kate and grossly disrespected as a man, husband and father. Kate is the feel sorry for me mode now, but I just cannot feel that for her. In the end, Jon will show us that he is truely a good man and Kate will continue to think she is a major celebrity.
