Could Michael Jackson have been saved? The tragic pop star’s family tried to get him help, family insiders told CNN on Wednesday — but he wouldn’t listen.
Younger sister Janet was allegedly alarmed by the “Thriller” singer’s gaunt figure in 2007, and tried to organize an intervention. But Michael gave orders not to let any family members through security, and refused even to take his mother Katherine’s phone calls.
“If you tried to deal with him, he would shut you out,” a source explained. “You just wouldn’t hear from him for long periods.”
But the family apparently had real reason to worry. Michael’s body was reportedly riddled with needle marks, seemingly confirming reports that he had abused the powerful anesthetic Diprivan, or Propofol — which is not OK for home use.
“He was using [Diprivan] to go to sleep at night,” dermatologist Arnold Klein told Larry King. “I told him he was absolutely insane.”
Sadly, some doctor out there obviously was willing to supply Michael the life-threatening drug. Is there nothing money and fame can’t buy?
Whose Kids Are They Anyway?
In his interview with King, Klein also addressed — and again hedged about — the question of Michael’s three kids’ paternity. The derm said he can’t say “absolutely one way or another” whether he is their biological father, but admitted that “I once donated sperm” to a bank.
“It’s not to be discussed who the father is over national television,” he noted. “The most important thing is, Michael loved those children as a father.”
So if the biological father is identified — as Klein or someone else — what impact would that have on the pending custody battle?
‘Twilight’ Couple Done?
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have never confirmed breathless tabloid reports that they’re hot and heavy — but Life&Style magazine is already reporting that they’ve broken up. Supposedly, the Brit hottie has moved on from his “Twilight” love interest to romance Emilie de Ravin, his costar in the now-shooting “Remember Me.”
An onlooker who saw the pair together in an NYC hotel garden told the tabloid that “the connection between them was electric.”
Poor Kristen. Just this week, the tabloids have pronounced her pregnant one day and jilted the next. That’s enough to mess with even the most well-adjusted 19-year-old’s mind!
Britney: ‘Whacked-Out’?
Is Britney Spears headed for another health breakdown? A report on the Web site Betty Confidential claims the singer has been mixing over-the-counter diet pills with Red Bull to amp up her energy before concerts … and the combo could conflict dangerously with the psychiatric meds she’s reportedly taking.
“Britney was definitely trying to get high by taking too many diet pills and energy drinks,” a family insider allegedly told the site.
Ex-husband Kevin Federline is said to be concerned that she is “acting like her old self again” — that would be the head-shaving, SUV-bashing self, we presume.
If we were really catty, we would suggest that the newly super-sized K-Fed help Britney by taking some of those diet pills off her hands.
But we’re much too nice for that!
