PERSONAL STATS
AGE: 39
YEARS IN THE CITY: 23
NEIGHBORHOOD: Hayes Valley
SELF-DESCRIPTION: Looking for the path least taken — and always up for a surprise.
Favorite skin treatment
Evolution Wellness Center
WHERE: 190 Gough St. at Oak St.
WHAT: A facial with Lisa Eddy
INFO: (866) 933-9322 or www.evolutionwellnesscenter.com
Lisa’s skin is flawless, which makes you want to go to her! She’ll test out the products you’re using to make sure they’re right for your skin. I’ve only been going there a few months, but any skin issues I’ve had have gone away.
Favorite pet store
Babies
WHERE: 534 Laguna St. between Hayes and Linden streets
WHAT: Personalized service
INFO: (415) 701-7387 or www.babiessf.com
Everything in the store is for dogs and cats, but I have rabbits, so the owner will special-order food and supplies for me.
Favorite nutritionist
Emerge Healing
WHERE: 2120 Market St. near Church Street
WHAT: Sessions with Alice Moore
INFO: (415) 652-8004 or www.emergehealing.com
Alice sees to it that I’m eating balanced meals and forces me to go to the store to try new fruit and vegetables. She’ll discuss food issues with her clients in a way that isn’t judgmental.
Favorite indulgence
Miette Confiserie
WHERE: 499 Octavia St. at Hayes St.
WHAT: What she calls “Monday Miette runs” for candy and treats
INFO: (415) 626-6221 or www.miettecakes.com
After our Monday Pilates session, my workout partner, my husband and I go there and mix and match their treats in the smallest pouch available.
Favorite fashion obsession
Yves Saint Laurent
WHERE: 166 Maiden Lane between Grant Ave. and Stockton St.
WHAT: Black patent stilettos
INFO: (415) 837-1211 or www.ysl.com
The new sky-high stilettos are just out of control. The front is almost like a platform. I haven’t bought them yet; I’m just coveting them right now.
Favorite weeknight dinner
Dining In
WHERE: 2152 Third St. between 18th and 19th streets
WHAT: Chef-prepared meals delivered to her house
INFO: (415) 255-2433 or www.dininginsf.com
All of my meals are organic and are never more than 400-450 calories. They’ll work with you to tailor your meals to whatever diet you’re on. Each week, the menu rotates, so you’re always trying new things.
Favorite frozen yogurt
Jubili Frozen Yogurt
WHERE: 1515 Fillmore St. between Geary and O’Farrell
WHAT: A cup of plain with blueberries
INFO: (415) 292-9955 or www.jubili.com
The yogurt isn’t too tart, and it isn’t too sweet. Not a lot of people know about this place; it’s a really funky little spot on Fillmore.
Favorite restaurant
Alamo Square Seafood Grill
WHERE: 803 Fillmore St. between Fulton and Grove streets
WHAT: Entrée of grilled salmon with steamed veggies
INFO: (415) 440-2828 or www.alamosquareseafoodgrill.com
This neighborhood restaurant is small and intimate, and you always get really good service. I always get the steamed salmon, but they’ll cook the fish any way you’d like.
Favorite dance class
ODC
WHERE: 351 Shotwell St. between 17th and 18th streets
WHAT: Modern Jazz Blues classes with Bayan Jamay and Elvia Marta
INFO: (415) 863-9830 or www.odcschool.org
Taking these Saturday classes one after the other is a killer back-to-back danceathon. I’ve been with these teachers for about fifteen years. And you’ve never seen so much candy! People bring it in and leave it on the piano.
