SAN FRANCISCO — Did Britney Spears trade time with her kids for time in the limelight? A report in OK! magazine claims that in order to mount her comeback tour, the resurgent pop singer had to relinquish her shot at regaining custody of her sons.

Monday, the “Womanizer” singer’s father, Jamie Spears, was granted permanent conservatorship over her affairs, formalizing a judge’s October decision.

But according to the tabloid, the plan was originally for Britney to regain control over her estate and her life at the end of 2008, freeing Britney to resume her fight for shared custody of Sean and Jayden. Then her camp found out that she wouldn’t be able to get insurance for her tour, given her erratic history, unless the conservatorship continued.

Now, with Jamie holding the reins, the “Circus” performer isn’t legally considered an adult — and hence can’t get her kids back.

“Whether it was her decision or whether she was pressured into it, Britney’s deal with the devil put the tour ahead of the kids,” an insider declares to OK!

Seems to us that, legal technicalities notwithstanding, Britney has been spending a lot more time with her boys than before the conservatorship went into effect. Leave the poor woman alone already!

But the actress says she was the last to know about her supposed same-sex liplock.

“A girlfriend called me and said, ‘Are you making out with girls now?’” Kate recalls to Us on the red carpet of the People’s Choice Awards. “No, no, no,” the actress says, denying the report emphatically. “Strictly boys for me!”

No doubt there are some ladies who love ladies who are pretty disappointed to hear that.  

Puck-y Love?

Carrie Underwood has a new beau, according to the New York Daily News. This time, the Southern cutie is looking to the Great White North for romance: She’s reportedly seeing hockey hottie Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators. (A blond celeb dating an iceman? Somewhere, Sean Avery is eating his heart out.)

Though they haven’t confirmed the romance, the paper notes that the country singer was spotted with Mike’s family in the VIP box during one of his games. Oh, and the pair allegedly spent New Year’s Eve together. Meeting the family? Hooking up for holidays? Hello, serious relationship!

Let’s hope a hockey player proves a better partner for Carrie than, say, a Dallas Cowboy or a “Gossip Girl” guy.
