As 2008 fades into memory, find out what’s in the stars this coming year for the stars who share your sign. Will your future be similar to theirs?
1. Mariah Carey
Impulsive Aries like Mariah tend to rush into things (getting married after six weeks of dating). This year, when Venus turns retrograde in her sign, she may rethink things romantically … but will a pregnancy change her plans for freedom?
2. Janet Jackson
After a rough 2008 that saw her tour sidelined, the singer, a Taurus, is also dodging pregnancy rumors. But this year may be more about rebuilding and regrouping than starting a new life phase like parenthood.
3. Shia LaBeouf
As a Gemini, LaBeouf might have a bit of a split personality. He’ll need that versatility to reinvent himself in Hollywood as a serious actor — especially around May, when his mischief-making "evil twin" acts up.
4. Lindsay Lohan
Sensitive Cancer Lindsay has a volatile relationship with fiery Leo gal-pal Samantha Ronson. The solar eclipse in her sign in late July could bring LiLo a bolt of clarity, illuminating how she feels about the relationship.
5. Madonna
The quintessential take-charge Leo Lioness, Madonna will no doubt continue to kick butt and take names in ’09. But toward year’s end, when Mars turns retrograde in her sign, her usual method of steamrolling over people may not work.
6. Jennifer Hudson
The singer will continue to heal after her family tragedy by doing what hard-working Virgos do best: taking care of other people. With life-lesson planet Saturn in her sign, Jennifer will assume new, more adult responsibilities in 2008.
7. Gwyneth Paltrow
Born under Libra, the sign of partnership, Gwyn allegedly saw hers under strain last year. If she opts to split with hubby Chris Martin, it will likely be when ruling planet Venus is retrograde in March and April.
8. Leonardo DiCaprio
The former player, a passionate Scorpio is now, rightly, better known for his acting than his conquests. This year may well see him settle down for good; with Pluto in Capricorn, Leo’s seeking stability and structure.
9. Britney Spears
The Sagittarius pop princess’ spirit of adventure will serve her well this year as she hits the road on tour and reconnects with fans around the world. The outpouring of support will do wonders for Brit’s ongoing process of becoming whole again.
10. Sienna Miller
The Capricorn actress, branded a home wrecker in ’08, may face a serious reality check in ’09 as her affair with Balthazar Getty is overshadowed by messy divorce proceedings. Can her relationship survive the pressure?
11. Jennifer Aniston
The Aquarius, who turns 40 in February, may finally get lucky in love this year as Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, enters her sign. As for John Mayer being her soulmate, however … well, the celestial signals aren’t so clear on that one.
12. Drew Barrymore
The free-spirited Pisces has played the field for the past couple of years. In the second half of 2009, she’ll begin to look within herself and figure out what it is she really wants. (Hint: It’s probably another scruffy-dorky dude.)
5 celebrity trends we hope are over
1. MySpace
Using the social-networking site as a press release: We really don’t need to know where Lindsay Lohan stands on all the political issues of our day. Really.
2. ‘Secret’ weddings
Jay-Z and Beyoncé, we knew you were married the day it happened. Enough with all the cloak-and-dagger nuptials.
3. TV performance-offs
We cringed at Cloris Leachman’s booty shaking on "Dancing with the Stars." Never thought we’d long for the classy, tasteful days of "Circus of the Stars."
4. Kiddie pop culture
It pains us that we can name every cast member of "High School Musical." (We won’t even talk about humming the songs.)
5. Post-baby body angst
When a woman gives birth, even a Hollywood icon like J.Lo, should we really be so concerned about her getting her figure back?
5 celeb trends we’d like to see in 2009
Normal baby names: Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s Bronx? So ’08. Let’s see A-listers call their kids John and Mary.
Comfortable shoes: Just the sight of Victoria Beckham hobbling in her towering Louboutins hurts our arches.
Stars’ Flickr sets: We loved clicking through Obama’s private photos online. Now bring on Brangelina’s!
Celeb-branded deodorant: Hey, everyone from Diddy to Britney has a signature fragrance. Why not a de-stinker, too?
Really real reality shows: Let’s see how the "Hills" chicks act when they don’t know cameras are rolling.
