Marriage meltdown? A cover story in Us claims that Jennifer Lopez’s marriage to singer Marc Anthony may be in turmoil. (Getty Images file photo)

SAN FRANCISCO — Are Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony at the breaking point? A new Us cover story claims the power couple’s marriage is in crisis. Exhibit A: She was seen at a film premiere last week without her wedding or engagement bands, while he was similarly ring-free while clubbing in Vegas the previous weekend.

“They both didn’t wear their rings on purpose,” one mutual friend allegedly declared to the tabloid. “Nothing Jennifer does is without purpose.”

During his Vegas jaunt, spies reportedly even caught Marc kvetching about La Lopez to a bevy of ladies, “telling them, ‘She’s making me miserable.’”

So what went wrong? For starters, “he’s very, very controlling of her,” including her wardrobe, one pal notes.

And the birth of their twins may have driven them further apart: “She walks in from work, washes her hands, and grabs the babies,” one friend relays. “With him, it’s almost like, ‘Ugh, they’re crying again?’”

Moreover, the “Wedding Planner” star allegedly “blames Marc for her career going down the tubes,” after their film, “El Cantante,” tanked. A friend recalls, “Jennifer looked around and said, ‘This is my life now? I’m a Long Island housewife?’”

A rep for Marc insists that “they are doing great,” and the rift rumors are “fabricated,” adding to People, “They are together. He had a boys’ night out. She had a girls’ night out. There is nothing wrong with that.”

Indeed, the couple made their first joint appearance together since October on Tuesday night at a Beverly Hills restaurant, where, according to People, they cuddled, kissed and fed each other. J.Lo “looked genuinely in love,” a fellow patron gushed.

Their first public date night in months, right after the Us cover story hit newsstands? Either that’s a mighty big coincidence, or they’ve been taking tips from the Madonna and Guy Ritchie school of rumor control.

Faux Vows?

Are you sitting down? This might be tough news to take, but … well … Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt’s marriage might be less than legit. Yes, we’re all just as stunned.

Though the preview of next week’s “The Hills” finale shows Speidi preparing to make their Mexican elopement legal by exchanging vows in a Beverly Hills courthouse, People has noticed the scene is a little fishy.

A rep for the courthouse says MTV was filming there after hours, and the judge shown in a clip doesn’t work there. There’s also no record that the couple filed for a marriage license.

How romantic. What girl doesn’t dream of the day she’ll fake her wedding for the cameras?
