Scoop: Michelle, what’s up with that dress?

Faux pas? Michelle Obama's dress Tuesday night was not a hit. (AP)

Has Michelle Obama already made her first fashion faux pas?

According to some, the answer is yes. Fashion mavens across the country were lamenting her election night choice, a modified version of a design from the spring 2009 collection of Narciso Rodriguez.

Although the red-and-black chiffon number was cutely coordinated with the dresses and suit worn by her daughters Malia and Sasha and President-elect husband Barack, experts didn’t mince words about the look.

The New Orleans Times Picayune writes, “Style.com called it a ‘progressive’ fashion move. I’d call it unfortunate.”

“Disastrous. The bizarre dress looked more like a Halloween costume than an election night frock,” the Los Angeles Times blog The Dish Rag says.

The Associated Press quotes online fashion magazine editor Yuli Ziv: “It accentuated some parts of the body I would try not to enhance.”

Despite the misstep, the long-campaigning candidate has built up credit among style observers hungry for possibilities, thanks to the dearth of fashion in the White House since the reign of Jackie Kennedy.

Carried away

Carrie Underwood says she regrets talking about ex-beau Tony Romo — and arousing the ire of his new girlfriend, Jessica Simpson.  After Carrie told Allure that the Cowboys QB still called her once in a while, Jess fumed that she had checked her man’s call log and that it wasn’t true.

Asked about the quote, the “American Idol” singer explains to Elle, “I don’t think people realize that when you do an interview, the magazine comes out six months later. It was just something that was said in passing, and I would never mean to say anything to hurt anybody or to stir up anything, because I’m just not about drama. At all.”

After seeing the pitfalls of having a high-profile relationship, Carrie says she’s ready to date someone who’s interested in her, not her fame: “That’s like, ‘Oh, you’re going to actually get to know me a little bit before you go Google me?’”

Honey, it might be kinda hard to find a guy who hasn’t heard of you if you keep showing up on the covers of magazines.

Clean Sheen?

Has Charlie Sheen really cleaned up his act? Although the actor says he’s left his drinking-and-womanizing ways behind, Star claims he ditched his pregnant wife to party in Las Vegas.

The tabloid claims that with new wife Brooke Mueller expecting twin boys, the couple has been fighting constantly. So, on Oct. 25, the onetime “Spin City” star allegedly booked it to Sin City, where he chatted up hot babes and indulged in lap dances at a strip club.

“He’s still carrying on and boozing,” a source reportedly informed the tabloid.

Wow. Charlie Sheen in a dysfunctional relationship? Didn’t see that one coming!

Another Tomkitten?

Two years after welcoming daughter Suri into the world, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are ready to have another child, OK! reports.

“Katie and Tom very much want another baby,” a pal of the power pair tells the tabloid. “There may be no better time than now for Katie to get pregnant again and absolutely nothing would make Tom happier.”

And apparently, they’re taking requests. Connor, Tom’s adopted teenage son with Nicole Kidman, wants a younger brother, his mom told Glamour.

Connor “would like one of us to have a boy,” Nic explains to the magazine. “He wants that boy. Katie?”

No pressure or anything.

Good grief! That is one tacky, awful rag of a dress! Ugh! Mr. Blackwell, we have your #1 candidate for worst-dressed of the year!

That dress was designed for a very different body. While Mrs. Obama has major fashion potential, this was a clear sign that she needs Rachel Zoe - yesterday! Her dress reminds me of an old candy bar commercial... to paraphrase: you got your chocolate all over my pumpkin! no - you got your pumpkin all over my chocolate! Pumpkin or bumpkin? Black or slack? Poor dress couldn't make up its mind. On subject: the daughters looked absolutely lovely in their -appropriatley designed- frocks.
