Make your Valentine's Day in San Francisco a special one

With just 48 hours until Valentine’s Day, here are a few ways to celebrate. Unless noted otherwise, all of the events indeed take place Thursday — Feb. 14 to be exact.

SFMOMA docent tours

Union Street wine walk

“Union Street Has a Crush on You,” the third annual event, includes a wine glass and a map detailing participating establishments dishing out drinks, finger foods and Valentine’s Day treats.

Ballet Flamenco

Carolina Lugo’s and Carolé Acuña’s troupe presents an evening of flamenco, accompanied by a special three-course Valentine’s Day meal (vegan options available).

Someday My Prince Will Come

The Walt Disney Family Museum’s love-themed “Animate Your Night” party includes “Prince Charming” cocktails, a Valentine’s Day-themed scavenger hunt, fortune telling, dancing and more.

Vintage Valentine concert

Berel Alexander leads his quartet in a show of 1960s-style pop, ballads, jazz and soul with a Valentine’s Day theme.

Epic Romance

BATS, the popular local theater and improvisation troupe, makes up a romantic “film” in the vein of “Gone With the Wind” or “Doctor Zhivago” on the spot.

Joey Arias in Love Swings!

The unpredictable New York performer — part jazz singer, cabaret chanteuse, erotic mistress of illusion and bawdy comic — makes a rare San Francisco appearance. Veronica Klaus opens the show.

How We First Met

The annual Valentine’s Day production features improv actors playing out real-life love stories from audience members who are interviewed by host and comedienne Jill Bourque.

MegaFlame Big Band

The theatrically inspired group plays a mishmash of midcentury jazz, blues and new versions of contemporary tunes, ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Morphine and Tom Waits to Big Momma Thorton.

Love Bites

Subtitled the “80s Power Ballad Sing-A-Long,” the annual event, often a sellout, amounts to a karaoke party with breakup songs, made atmospheric by lots of lighters.

Spin the Bottle Nightlife

French DJs bounce the beats while the Center for Sex and Culture offers talks and activities at the science hot spot’s weekly party; this holiday edition features valentine-themed sweets and SF Beer Week libations.

Trainwreck Cabaret

Francine Dead, Hernan Cortez, Sydney Sin, Pippi Lovestocking and more star in a whirlwind show that’s a cross between burlesque, vaudeville and cabaret.
