A man in his 60s was struck and killed while crossing the street near the Daly City border early Saturday morning.
Antonio Octaviano, a 66-year old Daly City resident, was crossing at San Jose Avenue near Rice Street around 6:20 a.m. when he was hit by a car driven by a 76-year-old man, according to police.
He was transported to the hospital but died from injuries caused by the collision.
In 2016, 43 percent of traffic fatalities were people over the age of 65, and 77 percent were over 45 years old, according to city data.
City officials have identified parts of San Jose Avenue as a high-injury corridor, meaning it is one of the 13 percent of San Francisco streets that account for 75 percent of collisions.
