Cardtronics taps ex-BofA exec to serve as director, increases board size

Associated Press
02/08/10 10:41 AM PST

HOUSTON — Cardtronics Inc., an owner and operator of more than 33,000 automated teller machines, on Tuesday said it has appointed banking industry veteran G. Patrick Phillips as an independent director.

In appointing Phillips, existing members of Cardtronics' board also voted to expand the board's size to eight members from seven.

Phillips' appointment took effect on Feb. 5. He also will serve on Cardtronics' audit committee, and the Houston-based company's nominating and governance committee.

Phillips is a 35-year veteran of Bank of America Corp., where he most recently served as president of the Premier Banking and Investments group from August 2005 to March 2008. At Bank of America, Phillips led a variety of consumer, commercial, wealth management and technology businesses.

Phillips currently is a director of USAA Federal Savings Bank, where he chairs that board's finance and audit committee.

Cardtronics shares rose 22 cents to $12.24 in afternoon trading.
