In the wake of Jeff Conaway’s death, Dr. Drew Pinsky is speaking out about the actor’s struggle with addiction.
According to Dr. Drew, who treated Jeff on “Celebrity Rehab,” the late actor “was a terribly complex case with chronic pain, opiate addiction and severe childhood trauma,” who confronted painful memories of childhood abuse while in treatment. (Jeff’s family consented to letting his doctor publicly discuss his case.)
When the “Taxi” star checked into “Celebrity Rehab,” he was using a wheelchair. But “we did successfully detox him, and he actually began moving about more freely and actually got up in group and tap-danced for us,” Dr. Drew told People magazine.
Yet “inevitably his pain recurred and his addiction led him to opiates. His pain intensified and he became fixed on the notion that surgery was his only solution, then more surgeries, more opiates and more surgeries.”
Though Dr. Drew said he warned Jeff that “should he continue down that path, I was convinced he would die,” the actor’s dependency on pain meds evidently continued, and he was able to find doctors who prescribed them.
Then things took a tragic turn when Jeff “apparently aspirated, developed pneumonia, he was sitting at home, didn’t know he was sick and by the time he got to the hospital, it was too late.”
After spending his last days in a medically induced coma, then being taken off life support, Jeff Conaway died Friday at age 60.
We told you Tuesday how Brad Pitt said he and Angelina Jolie have “got to look at” getting married for their six kids’ sake.
Now the Oscar-winning actress is gushing about her baby-daddy being the perfect guy. Could wedding bells finally be in the works, for real?
“I am very lucky with Brad,” the “Kung Fu Panda 2” star told the U.K.’s Telegraph. “He is a real gentleman, but he is also a real man’s man.”
Although she has a tough-as-nails side, Angie said that “I love feeling soft, I love being with Brad, I love all the sensitivity and natural emotion” of being a woman.
And Brad, in turn, has “got the wonderful balance of being an extraordinary, great, loving father, a very, very intelligent man, and physically he’s a real man,” the actress said — blushing — “in all things that it means.”
Seriously, Angie, how many times do we have to hear that you’re perfect, your man is perfect and your love life is perfect? Stop gloating already!
They may not be exclusive yet, but Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively aren’t doing a very good job of quelling suspicions that they’re an item.
After being photographed embracing on a yacht in Italy, the gossip-generating “Gossip Girl” starlet and the “Inception” actor were snapped on Saturday coming out of the same hotel in the south of France. Though they left separately — well, we weren’t born yesterday.
Blake and Leo reconnected for dinner in the town, then headed back to Cannes for more film-festival fun, sources told the U.K.’s Daily Mail.
Sounds like things are heating up fast. Still, we can’t help but wonder: Did Blake happen to see those photos of Leo hanging with a mystery brunette, just days after their Italy jaunt?
