UPDATE: Downed power lines cleared on I-880 in Oakland

UPDATE 2:50 p.m.: Both directions of Interstate Highway 880 have reopened in Oakland this afternoon after a big-rig struck a pole, knocking power lines onto the highway. The California Highway Patrol reopened all lanes at 1:44 p.m. after PG&E crews safely removed the downed lines.

The CHP had issued a Sig-alert at 12:53 p.m. because of the closure of Highway 880 in both directions.

A PG&E spokesperson said no major outages occurred as a result of the incident.

The CHP reported on Twitter on 12:55 p.m. that the lanes will remain closed for about an hour while PG&E crews work to safely repair the lines.
