Donald Penn to miss rest of Raiders season — report

The Oakland Raiders were defeated by the Dallas Cowboys at home on Sunday. It looked to be rock bottom when Derek Carr fumbled out of the end zone to secure the loss.

On Monday, the Raiders’ outlook on the already disappointing 2017 campaign got even worse. According to report by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, left tackle Donald Penn will miss the rest of the season after leaving Sunday Night Football with a foot injury.

Penn will lose his ironman streak, and the Raiders will lose their best offensive lineman. He has a 78.8 grade, according to Pro Football Focus, which is the 23rd best among tackles in the NFL.

Without Penn protecting his blindside, quarterback Derek Carr will have fewer clean pockets to throw from. And he’s been one of the worst passers in the league when under pressure this season, and it’s cost the Raiders, who are 6-8 and on the outside looking in from the playoff picture.
