Bay Area residents not connected to cable or satellite TV, particularly those who have had difficulty receiving channels since the June switch to digital, should rescan their sets and converter boxes.

Sutro Tower — which provides transmission facilities for 11 televisions stations, four FM radio stations and about 20 wireless communication services in the Bay Area — has finished most of its major work fixing and readjusting antennas, officials announced this week.

Viewers have been instructed to press the menu button on their remote and then choose the channel-scan function. Then, the TV set or converter box should find all the channels now available.
Individual stations also will be making power adjustments and optimizing signals in the next few weeks. — Kamala Kelkar
