Despite loss, dip in rankings, SFSU sets program-best mark for consecutive weeks in polls

San Francisco State’s men’s basketball team was beaten for the first time last week when Chico State earned a 75-61 win on New Year’s Eve.

The Gators will look to bounce back tonight against Cal State LA. As a result of the loss, SFSU dropped six spots to No. 21 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II Poll that was released Tuesday.

Despite the drop, this marks the first time in program history the team has been ranked four-straight weeks.

From the SFSU Athletic Department:

Four members of the nationally ranked Gators are also in the top 30 in nine individual statistical categories.  AJ Kahlon is seventh with his six double-doubles, 11th with his 26 total blocks, 14th in total rebounds (115), 20th in blocked shots/game (2.4) and 24th in rebounds/game (10.5). Coley Apsay is second in total steals (34), fifth in steals per game (3.1), seventh in three-point field goal percentage (56%) and 25th in free throw percentage (90;.6%).  Chiefy Ugbaja is 29th with his 24 steals and Warren Jackson is 29th with his 90% shooting from the charity stripe.
