More very personal revelations on the state of Demi Lovato’s psyche: After admitting on “20/20” that she suffered from an eating disorder and a self-mutilation problem, the Disney star told People magazine that during in-patient treatment last fall, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
“I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar,” the former “Sonny With a Chance” star said.
But, she said, “Looking back, it makes sense. There were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I’d be up until 5:30 in the morning.”
Incidentally, Catherine Zeta-Jones also revealed recently that she is bipolar, and Demi tweeted gushing that she was “so brave” for making her disorder public. Maybe CZJ inspired Demi to speak out — and hopefully both actresses’ openness will encourage others to seek help for themselves.
While waiting for the delivery of her twins — a boy and a girl — Mariah Carey proudly showed off her bicoastal nurseries to Life&Style magazine, and offered some of the maternal wisdom she’s learned during her pregnancy.
Designing the babies’ rooms in her L.A. and NYC homes “was so challenging because I had such specific ideas I wanted implemented,” the “Butterfly” singer said. “I feel like I’m bringing two individuals into the world, so I wanted to do more than cookie-cutter styles in blue and pink.”
One detail she loves: a cloud-and-stars-covered ceiling in the L.A. space.
“It’s based on two songs I wrote that are fan favorites, ‘Underneath the Stars’ and ‘Close My Eyes,’” Mimi said. “Sometimes I just sit in the nursery and stare at the ceiling because I love it so much. To me, it symbolizes wanting my children to dream as big as possible and to let their imaginations be unbridled.
“Being a mother is probably the hardest job in the world. I feel like, in a lot of ways, children come into the world to teach us. It’s going to be a delicate balance between raising them around glitz and glamour and keeping them grounded. One thing I’m sure of is that I’ll be grateful for the twins every day, no matter what.”
We’re really happy for Mariah. Really, we are. But don’t you get the feeling she’s one of those women who thinks she’s the only person in history ever to get pregnant and have babies?
New-friend alert! Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller have evidently been bonding — their connection being, of course, that they’re both ex-wives of Charlie Sheen.
“Brooke and Denise talk quite frequently,” a source told Radar Online. “It was Denise’s idea to get together for dinner with Brooke with their children. Denise’s children with Charlie, Sam and Lola, have spent time in the past with their half-siblings, Bob and Max. Denise wants all the children to hang out together.”
Right now, Brooke is reportedly spending days in rehab and nights with her 2-year-old twin sons, after allegedly relapsing into addiction with a weekend bender.
“Denise has reached out to Brooke since her relapse to offer her support,” the source said. “Denise wants to have the girls spend time with their brothers, when she is assured that Brooke is sober, and wants it be a fun outing for everyone, with no drama. It’s about the kids forming a bond, and nothing else.”
Thank goodness someone is stepping up to be a good influence on these kids!
