Deadly Camp Fire in Butte County now 25 percent contained

The deadly Camp Fire in Butte County has consumed 109,000 acres as of Sunday morning and is considered 25 percent contained after firefighters battled moderate extreme wind conditions overnight, according to fire officials.

Cal Fire in Butte County said 23 people have died since the wildfire started Thursday morning near the town of Paradise.

The blaze has destroyed 6,453 homes and 260 commercial buildings, while another 15,000 structures remain under threat.

Firefighters protected structures and fought fire aggressively overnight, placing fire lines ahead of the blaze, according to Cal Fire.

Firefighters are expected to face strong winds Sunday with northeast winds pushing smoke to the southwest.
