Dave Grohl happily rocking along

Trending Articles

Is Dave Grohl simply the happiest man in modern rock?

Every time you see the guy, he’s smiling, giggling or out-and-out guffawing, apparently unruffled by just about everything.

Well, now he’s really got something to triumphantly cackle about — not only will he soon be receiving an NME Godlike Genius Award in London, he’s just putting the finishing touches on his new, as-yet-untitled album with his fabulous Foo Fighters, co-produced by Alan Moulder and Butch Vig and hitting the street this spring. Vig oversaw two new FF “Greatest Hits” cuts, “Wheels” and “Word Forward,” (as well as the classic “Nevermind” from Grohl’s last outfit Nirvana), so the collaboration makes perfect sense.

And Grohl isn’t being stingy.

At this website, fans can get a taste of the track “Bridge Burning,” just to whet their appetite.

The album will also feature a duet with Bob Mould, “Dear Rosemary,” and an exhaustive James Moll-directed documentary on the Grammy-winning Foos will be released almost simultaneously (maybe there’ll be some footage of Grohl scowling — who knows?). But Mr. Giddy did it his way this time around — every last song was recorded in direct-to-tape analog in his San Fernando Valley garage, no digital at all.

Stay tuned for more dirt.
