Hats off to Dandy Warhols anchor Courtney Taylor-Taylor — he’s pushing his craft into truly surreal new territory.

First, he’s penned (with artist Jim Rugg) a stand-alone graphic novel called “One Model Nation,” soon to be published by Titan Books. And it’s the story of a fictional — a decidedly Kraftwerk-clad — art-noise band from Berlin, circa 1977, who get caught up in the police pursuit of the notorious Baader-Meinhof Gang and unduly vilified. Ambitious by any artistic standards.

But on Jan. 31, he’s also releasing a One Model Nation album, called “Total Werks Vol. 1 (1969–1977),” a synth-heavy set reminiscent of Can and, of course, “Man Machine”-era Kraftwerk, intended as a companion piece to the book.

Also on the way: An actual animated video of the first single, bringing the project full circle.
