News that a nationwide ‘March 4 Trump’ would be hitting close to home this weekend has spurred another group into action. BAMN, the “The Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration, and Immigrant Rights and Fight for Equality By Any Means Necessary,” has released a statement indicating that they will be holding a counter-protest Saturday in opposition of the Trump administration.

“The so-called ‘March 4 Trump’ demonstrations that have been called in several cities around the country are Trump’s supporters desperately trying to create the appearance of popular support for their president whose racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim policies have been met with nationwide mass protest resistance and national and international condemnation,” BAMN organizers state.

Although the March 4 Trump calls for a peaceful assembly, BAMN is urging its protestors to be cautious. “The anti-Trump movement needs to stay united, look out for each other, and have each other’s back. For the safety of the protest, everyone should wear blue jeans, white, grey or black t-shirt and/or jacket. Bring a hat or something else to cover your head and a bandana in case of tear gas,” they state.

The March 4 Trump will begin at 2:00 p.m. March 4 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park.

The BAMN group will meet at the park two hours earlier, at 12 noon in the same park.
