Comcast glitches during Packers game

Football fans in The City who use Comcast as a cable provider had to watch a blank screen this morning for the first hour of the only game airing in the Bay Area.

Equipment failure fudged the first hour of the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Redskins 10 a.m. game with customers who have standard definition televisions, according to a Comcast spokesman.

“It had to do with the television signals, something on the receiving equipment that didn’t get the channel,’’ Comcast spokesman Andrew Johnson.

The temporary fix should hold up through the Philadelphia Eagles vs. San Francisco 49ers game this afternoon, Johnson said, and it will be fixed permanently sometime between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Monday.

“It’s a temporary fix that could last for years,’’ Johnson said. “And the permanent fix should just take a couple minutes and it’ll happen (in the morning) typically when everyone is sleeping.’’
